How does your website or entity represent or contribute to the local community or borough which you represent?
Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital has been open and operating for over six years. Throughout the past six years the veterinarians at PPAH have participated in the TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) program for stray felines. The TNR program is important for Staten Island residents because tens of thousands of stray and feral cats live in NYC. Participating in the TNR program contributes to the local community because it helps to curb the rapid growth of the stray cat population. Dr.Meleleo, founder and medical director of PPAH, is a life long Staten Island resident. Practice Manager Valerie Kaufmann and Technical Manager Frances Avvento are also Staten Island natives. The administration at PPAH strives to create an animal hospital that serves all the various needs of the Staten Island population, because we are the Staten Island Population! PPAH also hosts volunteers from Tottenville High School, located right across the street. We hope to allow young adults the opportunity to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Pleasant Plains Animal Hospital cares deeply about it's community, as well as communities across America. PPAH held fundraising events when the residents of Staten Island were effected by Hurricane Sandy, and more recently, for the communities effected by Hurricane Harvey. PPAH also delivers prescription food and medicine to our patients, free of charge! Pleasant Plains is open 7 days a week, until 10pm every weeknight and has a veterinarian on call (available by phone) for our clients 24 hours a day. We understand that everyone has a busy life and we strive to make taking care of your pets needs as easy as possible!
