"New York City's own little corner of the Internet is percolating to life, and the pioneers making it hum are a mix of institutions, blogs, artists and a first lady. Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Monday that the city has taken a major step in the .nyc domain name project, selecting the members of its "".nyc Founders"" program. As Crain's reported in May, the program was designed to identify 50 local businesses, causes and individuals that best represent the ethos of the five boroughs and give them first crack at a .nyc domain."
