As New Yorkers, we know that there is so much that contributes to our city’s uniqueness. Our diverse community, rich arts scene, beautiful parks and culinary melting pot are just a few reasons why our city is so great. 8.5 million NYC residents can’t be wrong!
 

If you follow .nyc on social media, you have probably noticed that we’ve been using the hashtag #BestDotCity in our posts lately. The purpose of this global social media campaign is to increase the visibility of “dot city” domain names.

As the domain name landscape has evolved over the last two years, a select number of city-based domains—in addition to .nyc—have launched. These “dot city” domain names are enabling their respective cities’ residents and businesses to integrate their physical address into their online address.

New York City is joining the cities of London, Las Vegas, Berlin, Melbourne, Sydney and Hamburg in telling social media followers about what makes our cities so great, hence the hashtag #BestDotCity.
